Microdermabrasion

Hattiesburg Clinic's team of plastic surgeons are skilled in performing microdermabrasion to improve the look of skin.

Microdermabrasion overview

Microdermabrasion works to revitalize wrinkled, coarse or sun-damaged skin. Not only does microdermabrasion remove dead skin cells, but it also promotes collagen production and the growth of new, fresh cells. This is achieved through a powerful mechanical device that sprays fine aluminum-dioxide microcrystals across the treatment area. Microdermabrasion can improve the appearance of imperfections on the face, chest and hands including: sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, coarse/textured skin and blemishes (including whiteheads and blackheads).

The plastic surgeons at Hattiesburg Clinic offer DiamondGlow® microdermabrasion for patients.

What is DiamondGlow?

DiamondGlow is a next-level skin resurfacing technology that treats more than just the surface of the skin. This treatment simultaneously exfoliates, extracts and treats the skin for results that last. It infuses the skin with serums at the moment of exfoliation when pores are most receptive, maximizing every second of the treatment for proven results.

Which DiamondGlow treatment should you choose?

The serums used with DiamondGlow microdermabrasion are specifically designed to target a variety of skin concerns, ensuring personalized results. These potent SkinMedica® serums are infused directly into the skin during treatment, addressing issues like hydration, brightening, anti-aging, and acne. Your skincare professional can help assess your skin type and concerns to choose the best serum, tailoring the DiamondGlow experience to your individual needs for optimal results.

  • SkinMedica Ultra-Hydrating Pro-Infusion Serum: Infuses your skin with five types of hyaluronic acid to boost hydration and promote smooth, soft skin
  • SkinMedica Vitamin C Pro-Infusion Serum: Treats dullness and visible photodamage and helps deliver a deep dose of antioxidants for rejuvenated skin
  • SkinMedica Even & Correct Advanced Brightening Pro-Infusion Serum: Reduces the appearance of hyperpigmentation and helps correct the appearance of uneven tone and hyperpigmentation
  • SkinMedica Pore Clarifying Pro-Infusion Serum: Reduces the appearance of blemishes and uneven skin texture, clarifies skin tone and minimizes the appearance of pores
  • SkinMedica TNS Advanced+ Pro-Infusion Serum: Reduces visible signs of aging and addresses coarse wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin and overall tone and texture

What can I expect after microdermabrasion?

This procedure is often called a “lunchtime peel” because it requires little to no recovery time. Most of our patients are able to return to work immediately. However, although you can resume daily activities right away, it is best to avoid direct sunlight for up to a week after your treatment. If you go outside, be sure to wear sunscreen.

There can be some side effects to microdermabrasion, including redness, which can last for a few hours. Your skin may also feel slightly sun or wind burnt.

What are the typical results from a microdermabrasion session?

The effects of microdermabrasion can usually be seen immediately. However, your skin care professional may recommend a series of four to six treatments, with healing time in between, to see optimal results.
