Pitts’ journey at the clinic is a testament to expertise, camaraderie and a healthy dose of humor.
Pitts’ role at Neurology – Lincoln Center is pivotal. He oversees neurophysiological testing that includes electroencephalograms, somatosensory evoked potentials, nerve conduction studies and more. But, his passion for the field extends beyond the technicalities; it is the relationships with coworkers that he cherishes the most. When asked what he enjoys the most about working in his department, “My colleagues, of course! Free catered lunch doesn’t hurt either,” Pitts laughs, emphasizing the importance of a supportive work environment. Reflecting on what he has gained in his time at Hattiesburg Clinic, Pitts says, “Lifelong friendships.” This idea helps solidify the spirit of community that defines the clinic’s culture.
Many of his duties extend to Forrest General Hospital, which includes studies and tests performed in the intensive care unit and emergency department. Beyond his professional life lies a surprising revelation – Pitts, the neurophysiology expert, comes from a family of ten siblings and enjoys gathering with friends for weekend gaming sessions. “Don’t let my tough, rugged, good ole’ boy exterior fool you. I love playing Dungeons and Dragons with a group of friends on the weekends,” Pitts says. This glimpse into his personal life adds a touch of warmth and relatability.
Pitts celebrates an incredible bond with his wife, whom he met here at the clinic 15 years ago. Pitts calls himself a proud cat-dad to his cat, Lord Hemingway. He paints a picture of domestic bliss with the “fluffiest ball of fur this side of the Leaf River.”
