Meet Melanie Brady with EpicCare
Melanie Brady serves as a crucial member of the Epic Electronic Health Records (EHR) Implementation Team at Hattiesburg Clinic. As an EpicCare Senior System Analyst, her responsibilities include providing analytical, technical and implementation support primarily for the ambulatory team. She is tasked with implementing system upgrades, building enhancements, conducting testing, ensuring system maintenance and resolving end-users’ issues.
Born in Jackson, Miss., Brady and her family spent a few years in Gulfport before moving to Petal, where she has lived since the first grade. She graduated from Petal High School and pursued further education at Jones College and William Carey University, earning degrees in nursing and medical office technology.
Before joining Hattiesburg Clinic’s EpicCare department in 2013, Brady held various roles, including medical transcriptionist, orthopedic nurse, Certified Quadramed EHR Analyst and Epic Inpatient Clinical Documentation Analyst.
During her 26 years with Hattiesburg Clinic, Brady has gained extensive clinical knowledge that she applies daily. She continuously expands her knowledge and has developed keen problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate needs efficiently. She finds immense satisfaction in her role, particularly in helping others by building and enhancing tools necessary for Epic workflows. She takes pride in knowing that her contributions directly impact the efficiency of health care providers, ultimately improving patient care at Hattiesburg Clinic.
When asked what she enjoys most about her department, Brady noted the collaborative environment. She finds fulfillment in assisting newer colleagues in building knowledge and fostering a sense of community within the team and the workplace.
“I get to see the direct results of my efforts, which is incredibly rewarding,” Brady said.
Brady is the oldest of three siblings and has four nieces and two nephews. She is married to David, a retired veteran. They have one child, Kevin, who serves in the Mississippi Army National Guard.
In her spare time, Brady spends quality time with her family and friends. She enjoys being outdoors, crafting with her mother and caring for her Maine Coon cats, Murray and Chewy. Her hobbies include listening to music, reading, playing basketball, solving puzzles and gardening.
FUN FACTS:
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
MB: I’ve always wanted to learn American Sign Language. I’ve always been mesmerized by those that can use sign language to share a song. It seems so beautiful.
If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
MB: Breakfast, specifically French Toast. My dad makes the best!

MB: Dependable, empathetic and passionate

People would be surprised if they knew what about you?
MB: I do not like to cook! The smell is gross. I’d rather do the dishes any day. I enjoy going to zoos, minus the snake exhibits. Giraffes are my favorite. And I never pass up an opportunity to swing. It’s my favorite pastime.
