Sinus CT Scans Overview
A sinus CT scan is a specialized imaging test used to examine the nasal passages and sinuses. It provides detailed pictures of the nose and face that help doctors diagnose conditions such as sinus infections, nasal polyps and structural abnormalities like a deviated septum. During the scan, the patient sits upright with the machine circling the patient’s head. X-ray beams rotate around the head, creating cross-sectional images that show the bones, tissues and fluids in the sinuses. Sinus CT scans are valuable tools for health care providers to accurately assess and treat sinus-related issues.
