Ricardo V. Romero, MD, is a physician with Hattiesburg Clinic Gastroenterology – Hospital Care.
Dr. Romero received his medical degree from Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, P.R. He completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in gastroenterology and nutrition at Yale University-affiliated Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Conn. As part of his fellowship, he completed training in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass. He also completed specialized training in advanced endoscopic ultrasound at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, La.
Romero was a senior staff member and a member of the Advanced Endoscopy Services at Ochsner Medical Center for more than 15 years. His areas of interest included advanced therapeutic and diagnostic endoscopy and complex endoscopic resections.
Romero is board certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American Society of Gastroenterology Endoscopy. He is the Director of Endoscopy at Forrest General Hospital.
At Gastroenterology – Hospital Care, Romero provides advanced endoscopy care in addition to evaluation and treatment for hospitalized patients with intestinal tract, liver and pancreatic care needs. GI hospitalists treat a range of digestive issues, such as gallstones, inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, hepatitis and cirrhosis.
