Petal Facility Hosts Open House

Hattiesburg Clinic recently held an open house and ribbon cutting at the newly expanded Petal location.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the grand opening of the new building, which includes the addition of a substantial 25,050 square foot facility, alongside a renovation of 2,200 square feet within the existing clinic space.

Bryan N. Batson, MD, chief executive officer at Hattiesburg Clinic, welcomed fellow physicians, health care workers and community guests to the event and spoke on the significance of this expansion and the integration of Hattiesburg Clinic into the Petal community.

“Petal is where Hattiesburg Clinic’s very first satellite location was established,” Dr. Batson said. “That was in 1978. You welcomed us with open arms, and we have loved caring for this growing community. And as Petal continues to grow, we, too, are growing to try to meet the needs of you all.”

Petal’s mayor, Tony Ducker, expressed his gratitude to Hattiesburg Clinic for contributing to the development of the city. He noted the significance of the expansion occurring on the city’s 50th anniversary and said he believes the timing and location of the project sets Petal up for tremendous success and growth heading into the future.

Guests, including family, friends and community members, enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and live music while mingling with the people who have helped make this expansion a success.

The new facility accommodates several departments, including Immediate Care – Petal, Children’s Clinic – Petal and Dermatology – Petal. Petal Family Practice Clinic will remain in its current location but is undergoing renovations to enhance the space. Hannah Roberts Badon, MD, FAAD, recently joined Hattiesburg Clinic with the addition of Dermatology – Petal and is excited about the impact this new facility will have not only on the community, but within her dermatology practice.

“As someone born and raised in small-town Mississippi, I have a deep understanding of just what it means to a community when a new business or service comes to town,” Dr. Badon said. “This expansion will provide essential health care services to meet the needs of the population of Petal and the surrounding areas. In turn, it has also allowed me to establish a new practice in a state-of-the-art facility as a newly board-certified dermatologist who recently joined the Hattiesburg Clinic family. I am looking forward to serving the patients of this area and am excited to provide general, pediatric, cosmetic and surgical dermatologic care.”

Shannon L. Goldsmith, DO, a physician with Petal Family Practice Clinic, spoke on the importance of having primary and specialty medical care close to home, which is something the new facility will continue to offer and expand on to the residents of Petal and the surrounding areas.

“All of us physicians at Petal Family Practice Clinic are very excited about the opening of the expansion and the renovation of our existing facility,” Dr. Goldsmith said. “Petal as a community continues to grow and this new facility allows our patients and their families access to specialty services (pediatrics and dermatology and plans for others) in a convenient location closer to home.”

The new, expanded facility is located at 50 Parkway Lane in Petal. For more information on the specialties and services offered, visit www.hattiesburgclinic.com.
