WHAT IS A MEMORY SCREENING?

A memory screening is a series of questions and/or tasks that take about 20 minutes to complete. The screening can indicate if someone might benefit from a comprehensive medical evaluation. However, it is not intended to diagnose any illness or replace consultation with a qualified health care provider.

FACTS ABOUT ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE

  • An estimated 6.7 million Americans aged 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s today.
  • This number could grow to 13.8 million by 2060 barring the development of medical breakthroughs to prevent, slow or cure Alzheimer’s.
  • Symptoms of the disease can first appear after age 60, and the risk increases with age.
  • Younger people may get Alzheimer’s disease, but it is less common.
  • In some cases, signs can appear as early as the mid-40s. This is known as early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
