Meet LaShonda Vaughan with Hematology/Oncology

LaShonda Vaughan has been a dedicated member of Hattiesburg Clinic’s Hematology/Oncology team for the nearly five years. As a certified medical assistant, she plays a vital role in patient care by checking vitals and supporting the physicians. However, for Vaughan, her responsibilities go far beyond clinical duties—her role is about making meaningful connections.

“I love interacting with the patients,” Vaughan said. “They make my day with their determination to beat cancer.”

Working in Hematology/Oncology has been especially rewarding for Vaughan because of the close-knit bond she shares with her coworkers. “We are all like family,” she said.

Throughout her time at the clinic, Vaughan has gained valuable life lessons. She credits her experiences with helping her appreciate life’s blessings and not take anything for granted.

Originally from Laurel, Miss., Vaughan graduated from Laurel High School and previously worked in health care before joining Hattiesburg Clinic. Outside of work, Vaughan enjoys spending time with her husband Russell and their three children: Russell Jr., Rylan and Raegan. She loves fishing, reading and playing with her dog. When asked what might surprise people about her, she shared her love for movie dates — a favorite pastime.

Hattiesburg Clinic is grateful for Vaughan’s compassion, dedication and the positivity she brings to both her team and her patients.
