Sinus Care Overview

At Hattiesburg Clinic, our ear, nose and throat (ENT) providers offer total sinus care and treatment for patients who battle sinusitis, an infection of the sinuses and other sinus-related conditions, such as chronic postnasal drip or rhinosinusitis.

Living with chronic sinus pain and pressure does not have to be your only option. Our skilled ENT team has advanced medical and surgical training in the diagnosis and treatment of sinus infections and sinus problems. Our sinus team is comprised of top doctors and specialists who are knowledgeable in the latest techniques for a wide range of sinus and nasal conditions.

What is sinusitis?

In healthy sinuses, mucus drains out and air is able to circulate. If air is not able to circulate, swelling of the sinus area can lead to blockages and prevent mucus from draining properly. Without proper attention, this can lead to an infection. Frequently, the root cause of poor sinus function is nasal allergies.

Sinusitis is a common condition that affects millions of people. The sinuses are air-filled spaces behind your forehead, cheeks and eyes. When sinus openings become blocked or too much mucus builds up, it can cause bacteria and other viruses to form, leaving you with swollen or inflamed sinuses.

Symptoms of Sinus Infections and Other Sinus Problems

  • Loss of smell or bad breath
  • Cough
  • Recurring ear infections
  • Headaches and facial pain (in your face, ears or upper teeth) or tenderness
  • Lack of energy
  • Nasal congestion and discharge
  • Persistent sore throat and postnasal drip

Sinus CT Scans

Hattiesburg Clinic is proud to offer a specialized imaging test to examine the nasal passages and sinuses. This CT scan allows our physicians to provide real-time results, better patient outcomes and lasting relief from sinus pain and pressure. With advanced sinus CT scan technology, our ENT team can diagnose and treat your sinus conditions for good.

Sinus Treatment

Sinus conditions are unique to each patient and can vary in severity and scope. We offer the following treatment options for patients experiencing sinusitis or chronic problems with sinuses:

Medicine – If you are experiencing minor sinusitis or sinus infection symptoms, treatment can be addressed by self-care or prescribed medicines.

In-office balloon sinus dilation – If you experience multiple sinusitis infections in a year, have chronic sinus problems or if your symptoms last three months or longer, you can be treated with a balloon sinus dilation, a minimally invasive technique also known as balloon sinuplasty.

Endoscopic sinus surgery – Endoscopic sinus surgery is an alternative to balloon sinuplasty and is a great option for patients who experience several infections in a year or symptoms for three months or longer.

Our experienced ear, nose and throat physicians will discuss your individual situation and help you figure out which treatment option is best for you.
