How Hattiesburg Clinic Doctors Are Transforming Health Care

Through exceptional leadership and dedication to advancing health care in Mississippi, the physicians at Hattiesburg Clinic consistently demonstrate their commitment and vision for our communities. This has been recognized by the recent achievements of Hattiesburg Clinic physicians within the Mississippi State Medical Association (MSMA) who exemplify the commitment to excellence, leadership and advocacy that drives our medical community forward.

The MSMA proudly announced the inauguration of Jennifer J. Bryan, MD, as its 157th President during a ceremony held on Aug. 9, 2024. This event marked another milestone in Bryan’s career, as she brings a wealth of experience, dedication and a passion for advocacy to this role.

Bryan, a physician with Hattiesburg Clinic Flowood Primary Care, has long been an advocate for physicians and patients. In her inaugural address, she emphasized the perseverance and courage required to navigate challenges in the medical field. Bryan highlighted the vital role of the MSMA in supporting physicians across the state, particularly in the face of ongoing health care challenges.

A central theme of Bryan’s speech was the importance of camaraderie within the MSMA, especially in combating physician burnout and navigating the complexities of modern medical practice. She called on her colleagues to remain engaged in the association’s advocacy efforts, stressing that the policies and actions of the MSMA have a direct impact on the lives of their patients.

In addition to Bryan’s election, the MSMA also announced the election of several other Hattiesburg Clinic physicians to key positions within the organization. Laura J. Miller, MD, with Prentiss Family Practice Clinic, was elected to the Council on Budget & Finance and the Council on Medical Education, District 6. William M. Ross, MD, with Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, was also elected to the Council on Medical Service in District 6, and Carl S. Ramsey, MD, with Anesthesiology, was elected to the Council on Medical Service representing District 8.

Anita Henderson, MD, with The Pediatric Clinic, was also recognized at an event celebrating women in medicine the previous night. She was honored with the Women in Medicine Legislative Advocacy Award. This award underscores Henderson’s efforts in advocating for legislative policies that benefit the medical community and the patients they serve.

Hattiesburg Clinic extends congratulations to Drs. Bryan, Miller, Ross, Ramsey and Henderson. Their leadership and dedication are invaluable assets to our ongoing mission of providing high-quality, patient-centered health care. Their roles and recognition within the MSMA reflect not only their dedication but also a collective vision to be the health care provider of choice in the communities we serve. By advocating for physicians and patients, these leaders ensure that our values of commitment and vision continue to shape the future of health care in our state.
