William L. Waller, III, MD, FAAD, is a physician with Hattiesburg Clinic Dermatology – South.
Dr. Waller is double board certified in Dermatology and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery by the American Board of Dermatology. He completed his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, Miss.; an internship in internal medicine at St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco, Calif.; a residency in dermatology at Tulane University in New Orleans; and a clinical research fellowship in dermatology also at Tulane University. During medical school, he graduated in the top 15 percent of his class and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. In his final year of residency, Waller served as chief resident and received the Peterkin Award for the most outstanding original research in dermatology.
After residency, Waller joined Hattiesburg Clinic where he established Dermatology-South and continues to practice there today. He received a presidential citation from the American Academy of Dermatology in 2014 for his service as a young physician representative to the American Medical Association. Waller was elected to the Mississippi State Medical Association Council on Legislation in 2014 and served as chair from 2017-2019. He has also served as secretary of the Mississippi Dermatologic Society. In 2020, Waller was elected to a seven-year term on the Mississippi State Medical Association Council on Ethical and Judicial Affairs.
Waller is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He serves as clinical assistant professor at Tulane University and as affiliate faculty at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Professional affiliations include the Mississippi State Medical Association, the American Medical Association, the Dermatology Foundation, the Mississippi Dermatologic Society, the American Society for Mohs Surgery and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery.
