Hattiesburg Clinic Awarded Prestigious Designation for EMR

For the fifth consecutive year, Hattiesburg Clinic has achieved the prestigious Epic Gold Stars Level 10 recognition. This honor once again places the clinic among the top one percent of Epic users worldwide, acknowledging Hattiesburg Clinic’s commitment to providing the most advanced health care technology for patients, physicians and staff. This milestone is the result of years of dedication to patient-centered care, innovation and adaptability in a rapidly evolving health care landscape.

“This award once again shows just how dedicated our team is to making a difference every day,” said Bryan N. Batson, MD, chief executive officer of Hattiesburg Clinic. “Our clinicians and support staff work hard to adapt and meet the evolving needs of our patients. Achieving this recognition reflects their extraordinary efforts and our commitment to creating a healthier community through innovation and compassionate care.”

Epic Systems Corporation, a leader in electronic medical record (EMR) technology, grants the Gold Stars Level 10 award as its highest designation. This award reflects Hattiesburg Clinic’s extensive optimization of Epic’s EMR capabilities, which improve patient access, streamline appointment scheduling, enable seamless prescription refills and enhance communication between patients and physicians. The Gold Stars Program evaluates health care facilities based on their effective use of Epic’s most advanced features to improve patient care and operational efficiency.

Betty Dickerson, chief informatics officer of Hattiesburg Clinic, emphasized, “Receiving Epic Gold Stars Level 10 for the fifth year showcases our commitment to excellence and continuous improvement. We are dedicated to leveraging technology to reduce administrative burdens for our teams and improve the patient experience.” Achieving Epic’s highest award reflects a dedication to comprehensive training, proactive system optimization and embracing Epic’s latest advancements. Epic’s opioid risk cognitive computing model was implemented this year. This feature is an advanced tool that helps clinicians evaluate a patient’s risk of overdose by analyzing a range of clinical factors. “Our hope,” Dickerson said, “is that this tool could be lifesaving.”

“This award exemplifies the efforts of our incredible staff, who work daily to harness technology to improve care delivery,” added Brooke Brewer, director of Epic clinical applications at Hattiesburg Clinic. “Every member of our team contributes to this achievement, and it is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish together for our patients.”

As Hattiesburg Clinic looks to the future, this recognition reinforces our commitment to leading health care innovation and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
