Congratulations to Our Providers

Please join us in congratulating Petra R. Schneider-Redden, MD, FACS; Brian S. Rifkin, MD; and Amanda L. Ladd, FNP, for receiving the Dr. Philip Rogers Awards from Forrest General Hospital.

The awards are named in tribute to Philip W. Rogers, MD, a Hattiesburg Clinic nephrologist who devoted 32 years to serving the South Mississippi community. Forrest General Hospital annually recognizes health care professionals who demonstrate exceptional commitment to medicine and excellence in patient care. Based on peer nominations, each recipient embodies one of Rogers’ most notable qualities: innovator, leader, mentor, humanitarian or advocate.

The Philip Rogers Leadership Award was given to Dr. Schneider-Redden, with Hattiesburg Clinic Plastic Surgery, for her dedication and meticulous leadership in the medical staff credentialing process at Forrest General Hospital. Over 24 years, including 18 as committee chair, she has spearheaded efforts to ensure rigorous vetting of medical staff, improve workflows and implement system enhancements. Her commitment to detail and continuous improvement has significantly contributed to high standards of care and patient safety.

Dr. Rifkin, with Hattiesburg Clinic Nephrology, was awarded the Philip Rogers Advocate Award for his instrumental role in drafting, advocating for and the eventual passing of Mississippi’s Living Donor Protection Act (HB1130), which safeguards the insurance rights of living organ donors. Inspired by a conversation with a dual organ donor, Rifkin researched laws, crafted the bill and tirelessly lobbied to secure its passage. His efforts have made Mississippi the 34th state to provide these vital protections, supporting donors and advancing organ donation advocacy.

Ms. Ladd, with Hattiesburg Clinic Hospital Care, received the Philip Rogers Humanitarian Award for her exceptional kindness and dedication to patient care. Known for going above and beyond, she consistently provides comfort to patients and families, offering support in challenging situations. Her compassion and selflessness were especially evident when she stayed by the bedside of a confused elderly patient, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the night.
