Dr. Goldsmith Shares Insights with the AMA

In a recent interview with the America Medical Association, Shannon L. Goldsmith, DO discusses her decision to join Hattiesburg Clinic and pursue a practice that would focus on understanding her patients and building relationships. Today, at Hattiesburg Clinic – Petal Family Practice Clinic, her commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care has earned her the Active Practice Physician Award from the Mississippi Osteopathic Medical Association.

“This is what I’ve wanted to do since I was a little girl,” Dr. Goldsmith shared. “…medicine is about more than diagnosing and treating — it’s about understanding the whole person and building relationships that foster trust and healing.”

In addition to providing high-quality family medicine, Dr. Goldsmith wears many hats: she’s an active member of the Mississippi Osteopathic Medical Association, a board member for the Cigna Health Spring Plan and a leader in navigating complex health care systems. Her expertise in osteopathic medicine and Medicare policy has improved care for countless patients, ensuring they receive the guidance they need in an increasingly challenging health care landscape.

Goldsmith stated that the honor of receiving the Active Practice Physician Award was a humbling experience. “The encouragement and recognition reenergize me,” she said. “It reminds me why I chose this path and motivates me to keep going despite the challenges of modern medicine.”

Congratulations to Dr. Goldsmith on her incredible achievements and the profound difference she continues to make in the lives of her patients and the community.
