Lowery A. Woodall Outpatient Surgery Center Hosts Open House

Hattiesburg Clinic Lowery A. Woodall Outpatient Surgery Center (LAW) recently held an open house and ribbon cutting at their new location.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the grand opening of the new 30,000-square-foot facility, which is set to redefine the standard of care for patients across a multitude of medical specialties with its advanced technology and patient-centered design.

Bryan N. Batson, MD, chief executive officer at Hattiesburg Clinic, welcomed fellow physicians, health care workers and community guests to the event and provided a brief history of LAW, which was first opened in 1984 as a partnership between Hattiesburg Clinic and Forrest General Hospital. Hattiesburg Clinic acquired the service in 2008.

“With the acquisition of LAW, we continued to pursue our mission of high-quality, patient-centered health care in an efficient and cost-effective manner,” Dr. Batson said. “Today, we celebrate another milestone in the pursuit of that mission with the opening of this new facility.”

Batson then introduced three individuals who spoke on behalf of the LAW team – David L. Sicard, MD, with Hattiesburg Clinic Anesthesiology, who has served as LAW’s medical director since 2014; Christopher N. Painter, DO, also with Anesthesiology, who will soon take over for Sicard as medical director; and Pearl Nelson, RN, MSN. Nelson joined LAW in 1995 and is the current Director of Nursing for the facility.

“As we continue to grow with improvements in procedures, medical equipment and medical advancements, one thing will never change, and that is the great care that we provide to the Hattiesburg community and surrounding counties,” Nelson said.

Guests, including family members and friends, enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and live music while mingling with the people who have helped make LAW a success.

The new facility is made up of surgeons, anesthesiologists, certified registered nurse anesthetists and staff members, and houses nine modern, state-of-the-art operating rooms, 29 private pre and postoperative rooms and 10 post-anesthesia care units. It also boasts a partnership with Stryker, one of the world’s leading medical technology companies. Stryker’s iSuite offers a combination of equipment and software that transforms the traditional operating room into a modern, state-of-the-art surgical environment.

Lowery A. Woodall Outpatient Surgery Center is now located at 1 Lincoln Parkway in Hattiesburg. To learn more about the services and procedures offered by LAW, click here.
