    Conditions We Treat

In recent years, children and adolescents have experienced increasing amounts of behavioral health challenges. The following list from the Centers for Disease Control shows recent approximate incidences of the most common diagnoses is children in the United States:

    • ADHD: 9%
    • Anxiety: 7%
    • Behavior problem (such as oppositional defiant disorder): 7%
    • Depression: 3%

Dyslexia is the most common learning disability diagnosed in the U.S., with an incidence of 5% to 15% depending on which studies are used. Autism spectrum disorder has incidence of almost 2% in U.S children.

The team at Connections uses evidence informed practices as well as standard of care guidelines to help improve the lives of children and teens with all these conditions, among others.

    When Complex Conditions Arise

Connections providers are very experienced in managing ADHD, mild to moderate anxiety or depression and other common co-existing conditions. However, those with a history of hospitalization in a mental health center or treatment by a psychiatrist for more complex conditions should be cared for by a clinic with a different level of training. Connections providers will decide if an individual will need more specialized care through psychiatry or other services.
