Electromyography Overview
Electromyography (EMG) is a test used to detect neuromuscular abnormalities by measuring nerve response or electrical activity in the nerve cells that control muscles, also known as motor neurons. During this diagnostic procedure, a thin needle called an electrode is inserted into the muscle and detects electrical activity on a monitor.
The physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists at Hattiesburg Clinic are specially trained in electromyography to interpret the electrical activity and understand if there are abnormalities present. No matter the situation, Hattiesburg Clinic has the diagnostic tools needed to properly diagnose or rule out a condition and develop a customized treatment plan.
