Ronald A. Bullock, MD, Retires after 40 Years
Hattiesburg Clinic would like to offer gratitude and best wishes to Ronald A. Bullock, MD, who has retired from Hattiesburg Clinic Immediate Care – Petal after 40 years of service. In that time, he has delivered high-quality, personal health care to patients with acute illnesses and minor emergencies, always putting their needs first.
A graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, Bullock completed his internship and residency in family medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Over the decades, he has become known for his skillful medical care and ability to treat each patient like family, always delivering care with kindness and respect. Bullock’s contributions to the clinic go beyond medicine. Those who have worked with him recall his infectious laugh, his heartfelt stories, and his love for cooking—particularly his famous cornbread.
Beth Coats, receptionist, shared that “Dr. Bullock has touched our lives and the lives of his patients with kindness and compassion.” His generosity was felt in how he approached every interaction, whether with patients or colleagues, often brightening their days with his warmth and humor.
Shanique Handshaw, a laboratory and X-ray technician, said, “His expertise, his kindness and his wisdom will truly be missed.” Handshaw went on to state that his dedication to his team and patients has been a defining feature of his career. “His commitment to his patients and support for colleagues and staff will always be something to remember.”
Stephanie Fusco, who has spent the last 18 years working alongside Bullock, recalled his “endearing smile, biggest heart and heartiest laugh,” and how he treated every patient like family. His presence will be deeply missed, not just for his medical expertise, but for the relationships he built and the joy he brought to those around him. “I will miss his funny stories and mouth-watering cornbread for our weekend potlucks.”
Patient account representative, Nicole Rodgers, has worked with Bullock since 2007 and reflected on how Bullock was a rare kind of physician. He would take the time to sit down and talk, sharing stories and jokes that left her in “gut-wrenching laughter.” His mentorship and kindness have left a lasting impression. “He would not only speak in passing but would come sit in my office and have a genuine conversation which addressed all aspects of life–from family and friends, to recently watched documentaries and lots of jokes.”
Bullock’s contributions to patient care and the lives of those he’s touched over the years are immeasurable. His retirement is well-earned, and we at Hattiesburg Clinic wish him all the relaxation, joy, and cherished moments that come with retirement.
Thank you, Dr. Bullock!
