Hattiesburg Clinic Heart & Vascular recently participated in the Pine Belt Heart Walk
Hattiesburg Clinic Heart & Vascular is a proud supporter of the 2023 Pine Belt Heart Walk hosted by the American Heart Association (AHA). The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s premier event for raising funds for advances to prevent and treat heart disease and stroke. Funds raised can help to create artificial heart valves, correct heart defects in newborns, prevent a stroke, find a cure for blood pressure concerns and more.
According to the AHA, cardiovascular disease occurs every 39 seconds and is the number one killer of all Americans. This year’s event was held at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Lawrence J. Leader, DO, a cardiologist with Heart & Vascular, recently shared his enthusiasm and positive experience after participating in the 2023 Pine Belt Heart Walk. Reflecting on the event, he expressed delight in witnessing the collective efforts of participants dedicated to raising awareness. Recapping the event, he said, “I had the opportunity to participate in the Heart Walk and my experience was an absolute pleasure. It was great to see all the teams of walkers and I was inspired by their efforts to raise awareness of heart disease and prevention. The sponsors were out in full force and I saw quite a few coworkers and patients. Watching the cute dogs and children walking along was also uplifting. Thanks to all who attended and to the generous sponsors. I’m already looking forward to next year’s walk.”
