Laboratory Overview
Hattiesburg Clinic’s laboratory facilities hold certificates of compliance from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued by the Mississippi State Department of Health. We pride ourselves on our ability to ensure all regulations and specifications of Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) are met. Our labs are staffed by certified, experienced and expertly-trained phlebotomists and clinical laboratory scientists that perform lab work for Hattiesburg Clinic physicians as well as for referring physicians. While the main laboratory is housed at the clinic’s main campus, several of our clinic’s also have laboratories for patient convenience and access.
Hattiesburg Clinic’s laboratory collects blood and specimen samples in order to perform various diagnostic testing and screenings. Clinical laboratory scientists perform a variety of laboratory tests, ensure the quality of the test results, explain the significance of laboratory tests, evaluate new methods and study the effectiveness of laboratory tests.
A lab test involves a medical professional collecting a sample of blood, tissue or other biological matter from the patient. The specimen is then sent to the laboratory, where it is analyzed. This helps physicians and providers in implementing diagnosis and treatment for patients.
